What do you feel this morning? Anger, Frustration, Indifference, Dismay, or maybe you feel a mixture of all. I find it baffling that these players — who are clearly not stupid— cannot keep the required levels of concentration, or awareness to win a game with a 2 goal lead.

Another centre back goal, they are determied to outscore the forwards.
I’m sure that Wenger has continually repeats the mantra of keeping concentration, taking chances when presented, and killing off teams. They know that, but somehow they can’t carry it the tasks at hand.
Results like yesterday are very disappointing, especially as Arseblogger puts it,
It’s one thing being taken apart by nice football but when you’re gifting the opposition goals then you’re going to have problems. We’ve conceded 15 goals so far, I’d suggest 10 of those goals were totally avoidable
It’s even worse when the players recognise the problem, continue committing the same crimes. Vermaelen, Sagna, Clichy, Diaby, and Sagna, all came out with statements pointing out that lessons must be learnt concentration must stay sharp yet we fall at the same hurdle.
Looking at the big picture we are in a good position, yet the missed opportunities leave a sour taste in the mouth. A win would have put us 3 points behind Chelsea with a game in hand, now we will be at least 2 points behind after playing our game in hand.
There’s a lot of blame going around, most of it falling on the usual suspects. Diaby especially is coming in for what I think is undeserved stick. The free-kick that changed the game was not his fault in fact it wasn’t a free-kick even Hansen said it. Some say that he (Diaby) lost the ball too much, or gave too many bad passes, simply not true — 45 out of 48 passes found their man, and he made 8 interceptions.
The player that most disappointed was Andrey Arshavin, left on only because he is always capable of creating a moment of magic which I suspect Wenger was looking for by keeping him on. The question is whether playing with 10.5 outfield players worth that one moment of magic? A tough call to make.
Strangely I never felt that we were in control of the game, we were 2 goals up but not playing well, we needed to step up our game and in the end we didn’t.
It’s been a feature of our season we concede late goals, 7 out of 13 goals conceded in the last half hour, 4 of the 7 conceded in the last 15 minutes, it’s something to worry about. If this doesn’t stop soon, it will become a a major psychological problem, once it comes to the last 10 minutes players will start to worry about letting in that last goal instead of concentrating on the task at hand.
Hopefully we’ll keep scoring more than the opponents, because at the moment it seems we will always concede one.
