Burnley 0 – 2 Arsenal FA Cup 3rd Round

Arsenal manager Wenger was full of compliments for Burnley, who put up a good fight in yesterday’s FA Cup third round clash. The gunners showed the chasm between the premier league top four and the rest of football in England. For all Burnley endeavour Arsenal hardly had to get out of 1st gear to win the game.

Burnley got out of the blocks well, they missed an early chance which could have put a different complexion on the game. Minutes later the gunners newest sharphooter put the Gunners in the drivers seat with a calmy taken goal, the type of goal that Arsenal fans now expect from crozillian Eduardo.

Arsenal now faced a spirited home team, Burnley now took the game to Arsenal with impressive passing and good possesion causing the gunners problems but failed to create good scoring opportunities.

When referee Wiley sent off Lafferty for a tackle on Gilberto, the game got even harder for Burnley. Denilson found Bendtner who rounded the keeper put the final nail in the Burnley’s coffin.

A staunch and sprited fight by Burnley was not enough of a match for the premier league leaders.

We again saw why Arsene Wenger thinks so highly of Eduardo, this guy is so cool in front of goal it is scary. When Eduardo missed an opportunity in the second half it suprised everyone, that how deadly he is, it is expected that any goal chance that falls to him will be put away.

Now for the Carling Cup.
