Fulham 3 – 0 Fulham Adebayor put the Gunners back on Track

It was a perfect riposte after the the disappointment that was Birmingham, a display worthy of the wengerball branding. Arsenal went 2 up before halftime and after the break Fulham never forced the gunners out of second gear. Wenger commented

“in the second half we controlled the game and there was more in the locker if needed.”

In the early stages it seemed that Fulham was up for it, they hustled and harried and did well to contain the gunners. On 19 minutes Clichy sent in a wonderful cross beautifully met by Adebayor to give Arsenal the lead.

19 minutes later Fulham didn’t learn their lesson and the BBC African player of the year netted a second header, this time the service was from Hleb who was on imperious form. Fulham was now in damage limitation mode so incisive was Arsenal that it simply a matter of time before a third goal came.

The third came on minute 81, but during that time the gooners were treat to display of teamwork and individuality that we’ve come to expect. Fabregas was quiet but effective, still not back to his best but when you’re that good 70 percent is better that most others’ 110%.

Eduardo and Adebayor still have not work out how to best compliment each other but individually were a thorn in Fulhams side. Rosicky was a spark, and the run he made to score the third was a testament to how hard he worked all day.

As good as Arsenal were, there is still a question mark over Senderos. No one can accuse him of being bad today, but if we are to win the title we need to see the Senderos of 05/06. Although he conspired to give Fulham a couple half chances, what we saw today was no doubt an improvement on his previous games. Let’s hope that he quickly gets to the level he ought to be.

Overall it was a good result both in terms of the scoreline and the performance of the team.

    Good article Michael,

I think Senderos just needs to play a little bit more and gain some more confidence. I didn’t imagine that Drogba effected his confidence this bad. He needs to step up quickly or other C-backs from the youth team will catch up with him and take his place.

    Love Wengerball :)
