So with the international break over we can finally get back to “real” football. Manchester City visits the Emirates on Saturday and we owe them. The last time that Arsenal lost in the premier League was against Manchester City, but that was a different Arsenal and tomorrow will be a different game.

Cesc will be back in action for Arsenal this weekend
The Internationals have taken it’s toll on the squad with up to 6 players set to miss tomorrow’s fixture.
- van Persie – Groin.
- Eduardo – Groin.
- Diaby – Thigh.
- Nasri – Flu.
- Vela – fatigue.
- Bendtner – Knee. Although he texted the boss to let him know that he’s fine, I think we will leave that decision to the medical staff.
On a more positive note we will have Theo Walcott, Emmanuel Adebayor and Cesc Fabregas back from their injuries.
There is a great sense of excitement amongst Arsenal fans all over, I for one cannot wait to see the combination of Cesc and Arshavin on the pitch. Although Arsene has intimated that Cesc will need at least 3 matches to get up to speed, I’d expect him to have some kind of influence on tomorrow’s game.
The common consensus is that at £15m Arshavin was a bargain, not only he is technically very adept he’s also a bit of a hard nut. Hiddink complained of the deliberate targeting of Arshavin’s injured foot by Azerbaijan. Arshavin who has 20 stitches in his foot couldn’t be bothered, saying
Early in the game I was hit right on the injured spot and went thought a pain-shock. But now I feel much better. The fans need not worry. If I come on to the pitch it means I’m fully prepared to play.
Arsene has been talking about a change in the points system to reward the scoring team more. adding points for goal difference is an idea I doubt it will ever happen. Not to mention the point that Arsene supports it knowing that his team will reap the rewards. I have no problems with teams like Fulham who has done very well for themselves with defensive solidity.
I know it can be dreary for the fans, but I’m afraid that no amount of tinkering with the scoring system will help. Teams know there limitations and the lure of extra points wouldn’t make a Bolton have a go at Arsenal knowing it will play directly into our hands, the will still “park the bus” and hold out for a scoreless draw. The tables will still look the same. Lot’s of goals does not equate to exciting games, yes 0-0 games are boring but that does not make 6-6 games any better.
Suffice it to say I don’t agree with le boss on this one, what do you think? Let us know in the comments section.
