Win at Villa Park banishies memories of the previous week.
Good result for us, at a ground where both United and Chelsea dropped points. We can’t underestimate how much holding on for the win after a disastrous week is good for the confidence.

With the exception of Wilshere and Bendtner all players should be back from their excursions injury free, which is the result we really look forward to during the international break.

I hope we don’t repeat that level of dross against Everton. If Wenger thinks Cardiff’s defence was first class the wait till Wednesday when he comes up against Everton and their 4-6-0 formation. A win against Everton is a must, if we are to stay in touch with the title chasing pack.

The main thing is we still won the game, and for now 3 points is much more important than wengerball. When you look at how well Liverpool broke down the stout defence of Stoke, or how Villa had to depend on a stroke of luck — again, then we should appreciate that winning against a 10-0-0 formation is not as easy as it looks.

Eduardo is back, Gallas still not sure
The big question was what would be Eduardo’s frame of mind coming back from such a horrific injury. His display last night showed glimpses of what Arsenal missed during those 10 months, he did everything with verve, no shirking from tackles, not afraid to take on defenders, and that uncanny ability to be in the right places was not lost
